FRANCE:A French court gave a far-right French politician a three-month suspended jail sentence and fined him €5,000 yesterday for questioning the Holocaust.

The Lyon court found Bruno Gollnisch had "disputed a crime against humanity". Mr Gollnisch was not in court for the verdict as he was attending the European Parliament, where he recently became leader of a new political group, Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty.

The court said Mr Gollnisch had called into question the number of Jews killed during the second World War and whether gas chambers had been used to kill them. - (Reuters)
