A French film addressing issues of disability and adolescence has won the 56th Corona Cork Film Festival short film award for best international short film.

Aglaee, directed by Rudi Rosenberg, tells the story of how in the school playground, Benoit must invite a student with a disability, Aglaee, to go out with him after losing a bet.

The Cork Film Festival jury praised the film for both its aesthetic qualities and for “its progressive depiction of disability in a non-apologetic and integrated manner”.

The award for best Irish short film went to Even Godsabout a former alcoholic and long-time joker, Hughie, who meets his estranged daughter for the first time in more than a decade.The jury said it showcased director Phil Harrison as "an exciting new voice in Irish cinema".
