An allocation of £18,000 for a mayoral car in Galway has been criticised by a city councillor who feels that the city is not big enough to require personal transport for the mayor.

According to Sen Margaret Cox (FF), the £18,000 should be allocated to other areas such as alleviating a proposed increase of £40 in refuse charges and the increase in parking fees.
