Two men and two women are being questioned by gardai after the car they were travelling in rammed an Garda car in Co Offaly this afternoon.
The unmarked police vehicle was struck close to Shannonbridge at 12.30 p.m. After the ramming the the four occupants of the other car abandoned their vehicle and ran into woodland. They were arrested a short time later following a search assisted by a Garda helicopter.
They are being questioned under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act at Ballinasloe Garda Station. They can be questioned for 12 hours under this Act. No one was injured in the ramming incident.
