Four Englishmen accused of assaulting gardai in Dublin have been remanded on bail at the District Court for legal argument

Four Englishmen accused of assaulting gardai in Dublin have been remanded on bail at the District Court for legal argument. The four, from Cumbria, are charged with assaulting Garda John O'Brien and Garda Chris Brosnan at Percy Place, on August 17th, breach of the peace and being drunk and disorderly.

Mr Warren Stainton (20), of The Willows, Oriel, Mr David Skelton (23), of Briscrmont, all in Egermont, and Mr Scott Walker (22), of Monkwray Court, Whitehaven, were remanded on continuing bail. Mr Stuart Aitken (21), of Longcroft, Egermont, was remanded in his absence after the court heard he was in hospital.

Defence solicitor Mr Michael Staines claimed Judge William Early was wrong to refuse District Court jurisdiction on the assault charge. The case was adjourned until Monday.
