The Northern Ireland Forum is asking the public, community groups and organisations to send it submissions on issues such as parades, education, health care, agriculture and fishing.

An advertisement placed in local newspapers yesterday said: "The forum was elected to consider and examine issues relevant to promoting dialogue and understanding within Northern Ireland. Its elected membership represents a wide cross section of political opinion.

"The forum intends to discuss matters which are of concern to people in Northern Ireland. Issues which address division within the community are of particular interest and importance."

The SDLP resigned from the forum last month after the Drumcree stand off. A party spokeswoman said since its members had resigned, the forum's actions were of no interest to the SDLP.
