Wellington - The former New Zealand Prime Minister, Ms Jenny Shipley, yesterday resigned from the leadership of the opposition National Party, making way for her finance spokesman, Mr Bill English.
Ms Shipley, New Zealand's first woman prime minister, said she had lost the majority support of her party's 39-member caucus.
