A former maid is suing the Conrad Hotel in Dublin, claiming a heavy workload caused her serious back pain problems and led to her having to stop work.

Liana Aipova (45), Hazelwood Park, Artane, Dublin, claims she was put under pressure by the hotel to clean and make up 12 to 14 rooms a day and that led to cumulative back pain problems, eventually forcing her to give up the job.

She claims that three times in May 2007, she sustained injury to her back from duties including strenuous work pulling and pushing beds and pushing a trolley.

Ms Aipova, a native of Lithuania, said the hotel was very busy in 2007 and she had to take time off because of severe pain running from her lower back down to her right leg. Despite efforts to return to work, she had to give up the job in February 2008.
