Former District Court judge dies

A former District Court judge, Judge Liam McMenamin, who worked mainly in the Co Donegal area, has died

A former District Court judge, Judge Liam McMenamin, who worked mainly in the Co Donegal area, has died. He retired on February 5th last and was on a walking holiday in the Himalayas when his death took place n Thursday. He was 70.

Judge McMenamin had a legal career which covered five decades, and had succeeded his father as State Solicitor for Donegal.

He became Donegal District Justice in 1986, having earlier spent three years as a Dublin Metropolitan Justice. Previously, he spent two years as a member of Donegal Co Council and was State Solicitor for Donegal from 1957 to his appointment to the bench.
