Showers of hail, sleet and snow are expected to clear by Sunday, Met Éireann said today.

However the rest of the week will see continued wintry showers - especially this evening and tomorrow.

"There may be some freezing fog at night as temperatures drop and the next few nights in general are expected to be cold and frosty, mainly in Leinster, east Munster and east Ulster," a Met spokeswoman said.

"On Saturday, showers will be very much diminished, while on Sunday most places will be dry - match conditions should be dry and clear" the spokeswoman added. The Ireland rugby team is playing England in Lansdowne Road on Sunday.
