Three footballers accused of assaulting a nightclub bouncer were remanded on bail until June 7th at a London court today.

Three footballers accused of assaulting a nightclub bouncer were remanded on bail until June 7th at a London court today.

Chelsea duo John Terry (21) and Jody Morris (23) appeared with Dublin born Wimbledon defender Des Byrne (20) at the court.

The three are charged in connection with an attack on doorman Trevor Thirlwell on January 4th at a private club in Knightsbridge, central London, where they had been celebrating the birth of Morris's baby girl.

The footballers, who all deny the charges, were bailed on condition they live at their home addresses and do not contact prosecution witnesses.

The three are charged with affray, and using or threatening violence. Terry is charged with unlawfully wounding 28-year-old Thirlwell, with intent to cause grevious bodily harm.

He is also charged with having a bottle as an offensive weapon during the alleged attack and with assault on a second bouncer at the club.

Morris is also charged on two counts of common assault on Thirlwell and one of common assault on the second doorman.

Byrne is charged with having a wine bottle as an offensive weapon and with common assault on Thirlwell.

Thirlwell suffered severe bruising and swelling to one eye, his cheek and nose during the alleged attack. He also needed stitches.
