Successfully straddling the boundaries of folk and country, Nanci Griffith's interest in performance stemmed from her parents - her mother was an actress, her father was a member of a barbershop quartet. Known as much for her brilliant cover versions as for her original material, she intends to concentrate on the latter for her two Dublin shows. Hopefully, she'll renege a little bit on this intention, as her album Other Voices, Too paid its respects to some terrific songwriters such as Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny, Tom Russell and Woody Guthrie. Her most recent album, Dust Bowl Symphony, is yet another example of her classy and authentic easy listening country/folk style. She plays Dublin's Olympia on Tuesday and Wednesday.
