Grenoble - Five people were killed yesterday in two avalanches in the French Alps, one near the Val d'Isere ski resort, the other at the Les Arcs station, police said.
Two snowboarders were killed by the wall of snow at Val d'Isere while four other snowboarders survived. Three off-piste skiers died at Les Arcs.
