Irish fishermen in ports along the south-west are today maintaining their blockade of catch landings by non-Irish vessels in protest at the European Commission's resolution over the Irish Box.

The unofficial action started on Friday night. Harbours at Castletownbere, Co Cork, and the Kerry harbours of Dingle and Fenit are involved.

The action prevents lorries from accessing the harbours to collect fish catches from non-Irish fishing boats.

It is understood the action will continue until three fishing industry organisations meet the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Mr Ahern, on Thursday.
