Northern Ireland fire chiefs yesterday again appealed to people to fit smoke alarms in their homes following two more house fires at the weekend, at Roslea Way in Rathcoole, Belfast, and Tempo, Co Fermanagh. Four people were rescued by fire-fighters. An assistant divisional fire officer, Mr David Patton, who made the appeal, attended the fire in Rathcoole and said a smoke alarm fitted had no batteries.
