Pat Kenny may lose an hour from his radio programme in a shake-up of RTÉ Radio 1's weekday morning radio schedule, which will also see the departure of Marian Finucane and her replacement by Ryan Tubridy.

The State broadcaster announced yesterday that Tubridy, who currently hosts the Full Irish breakfast show on RTÉ 2FM, would be moving to Radio 1 in June. He will broadcast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Finucane leaves her weekday 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. slot on Radio 1 in June to host a live magazine show on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., from September, and look at the week gone by on Saturdays and the week to come on Sundays.

An RTÉ statement quoted Finucane as saying she was "really looking forward to it. A whole new challenge, delivering to a new weekend audience."
