Republic of Ireland defender Steve Finnan is set to play for Liverpool in the Amsterdam Tournament after recovering from a hernia operation.

Liverpool play Ajax tomorrow and Galatasaray on Sunday. Finnan has been pencilled in for the second match.

Finnan said: "It's coming along alright at the moment, the physio has been really good. It's been a bit frustrating watching the lads train and play while I'm stuck here but it's coming along fine now.

"They said I'd be out for two months from the time of the operation but they didn't really set me a target. So maybe the Amsterdam tournament or sometime around that could be something to look at".
