Republic of Ireland defender Steve Finnan is set to make his Liverpool debut this weekend as the Reds take on Ajax and Galatasaray in the Amsterdam tournament.

Finnan who has spent the summer recovering from a hernia operation has spoken of his frustration at watching his new teammates train and take part in pre-season friendlies while he was in the recovery room but believes that he may get a look in after a patient rehabilitation.

The full back told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It's coming along alright at the moment, the physio has been really good. It's been a bit frustrating watching the lads train and play while I'm stuck here but it's coming along fine now.

"They said I'd be out for two months from the time of the operation but they didn't really set me a target so maybe the Amsterdam tournament or sometime around that could be something to look at.

The likelihood, if Finnan were to feature at all in the Ajax Arena, is that he would play in the second game against Turkish runners-up Galatasaray on August 3rd.
