THOUSANDS ARE expected to descend on Galway for the annual Macnas parade which will take to the streets tomorrow. This year’s theme is “The Wild Hunt” and more than 300 performers are due to take part.

The Bray Summerfest continues in Co Wicklow with a fireworks extravaganza tomorrow following a day of entertainment including open air street performers.

The seaside village of Clogherhead in Co Louth is hoping to attract more than 342 participants to be buried from the neck down on Little Strand Beach, as they bid to beat the world record. The attempt will be part of the Clogherhead Prawn Festival.

Bungee jumping, jet-ski racing and a strongman competition are also promised along with the Drogheda Masters annual swim which sets off from Clogherhead lifeboat station at 2.30pm today.

Meanwhile, Limerick is hosting the world’s largest tag rugby festival at Old Crescent RFCtoday and tomorrow.

‘StreetFeast’ will see neighbourly events take place in many places such Dingle, Co Kerry; Barna, Co Galway; Belmullet, Co Mayo; Sandycove, Co Dublin; New Ross, Co Wexford, and Red Cross in Co Wicklow. For more details see StreetFeast.ie.
