Explosive device made safe in west Dublin

It was discovered in an ESB sub station at about 12.45pm by members of staff. The device and a number of shotgun cartridges were found wrapped in plastic and appear to have been there for a number of days

The Army Bomb Disposal Unit were called in and the device was made safe shortly after 3pm.

An Army spokesman said the device was viable and capable of causing serious harm.

The component parts will be technically examined by Gardai and the incident in under investigation.
