Euro zone industrial orders fell 6.5 per cent in June from May but were up 10

Euro zone industrial orders fell 6.5 per cent in June from May but were up 10.9 per cent year-on-year, EU statistics office Eurostat said this morning.

Eurostat also substantially revised its estimate for May industrial orders after France revised upwards its figures for transport equipment orders in May.

Euro zone orders are now estimated to have risen 6.4 per cent month-on-month and 16.4 per cent year-on-year in May.

Eurostat previously estimated orders declined 0.3 per cent month-on-month in May and that they were up a more modest 6.8 per cent year-on-year.

In June, transport equipment orders fell 15.9 per cent month-on-month after jumping 22.9 per cent in May.

Orders for basic metals and fabricated metal products slipped 0.8 per cent and orders for electrical and electronic equipment fell 0.5 per cent.

But machinery and equipment orders rose 1.0 per cent and chemicals and chemical products orders grew 0.9 per cent.
