An elderly woman was killed when she was hit by a car in Rathagan, Co Kildare last night.
The woman, who has not yet been named, is believed to have been from the area.
In Co Carlow, five people were hurt in an accident near Leighlinbridge at around 10.30 p.m.
Two units from Bagnelstown fire brigade were called to the scene, while three ambulances ferried the injured to hospital. The road was blocked for two hours.
