A 96-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in her Donegal home last night.
A raider wearing dark clothes and a balaclava entered the house in Aghilly at around midnight and went to the victim's bedroom where the woman was in bed. The woman was assaulted and threatened by the raider, gardaí said. Her handbag was stolen.
Gardaí believe two people were involved in the robbery and that they escaped in the direction of Tullydush. The woman called gardaí once the raider left and she was subsequently taken to Letterkenny Hospital for treatment. She is not believed to have been badly injured.
Gardaí conducted an initial search of the property and the surrounding area last night and crime scene investigators are expected at the house today.
