Olympics - Boxing: Team captain Kenny Egan led by example at the Workers' Gymnasium this morning, comprehensively out-scoring Julius Jackson in his opening bout.

The light heavyweight from Neilstown in Dublin dominated his opponent throughout, bossing the ring and picking off points with a constant and stinging jab.

Jackson, from the Virgin Islands, barely laid a glove on the southpaw in the opening two minutes as Egan opened a 6-0 lead.

However, a big right hand early in the second had Egan, caught off balance, briefly on the canvas. It was to be a momentary blip. Jackson finished the round with two points. He would receive no more.
