I manage a desktop production line. Product quality and quantity and people management are major parts of my work. I'm the first human resource point of contact for the 50 operators who work on my line.

I co-ordinate with training instructors to ensure that the operators are getting the right training. Each line is given hourly targets - you may be required to make 100 PCs in hour for example. I have to ascertain that we are doing the job correctly, that the quality of the product meets the required standard and that the correct checks have been carried out.

Change is the key word in my job. It can be pressured but you never get bored.

Before I came to Dell I worked as a family butcher and in the building industry in Britain. I came in as an operator and moved on to become a line trainer and then a line leader. Before I became a line manager I did an evening course in human resources and industrial relations a the NCIR, Dublin.
