US dollars for African colleges

Four well-known US charitable foundations have announced a joint investment of $100 million for higher education in selected African countries.

The Rockefeller and Ford foundations, the Carnegie Corporation and John D and Catherine T MacArthur have decided to co-ordinate with African educational leaders to award grants to African universities which have shown promise in their efforts to expand and reform.
