The March 1st deadline for applications for scholarships awarded by the Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholars Trust is fast approaching. Now in its second year, the trust exists to provide funding to "talented individuals who wish to pursue further education, but who are prevented from doing so by financial, social or physical disabilities". Awards currently on offer are for autumn 2001, and those about to enter third-level and current third-level students are eligible. The scholarship is worth up to £5,000 a year, with an upper limit of £30,000 per candidate.
Scholarships are awarded for courses ranging from standard degree subjects, arts and cultural studies, to scholarships for coursework in leadership skills. The trust also provides funding for foundation/access course students and those in the creative arts.
The deadline for application is April 1st. Application forms are available from the Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholars Trust and Bank of Ireland branches.
