Power, privilege and prospects

THE 24th annual conference of the Educational Studies Association of Ireland takes place in UCD this week, from Thursday to Saturday.

Sally Tomlinson, emeritus professor of educational policy and management at Goldsmiths College, University of London, will give the keynote address entitled Power and Privilege in Education: The Perpeptual Problem of Social Class.

In a number of parallel sessions, a wide range of educational issues will be examined. The symposium - Educational Research: Challenges and Prospects - will include input from a range of leading academics, including Professor John Coolahan of NUI Maynooth, UCD's Dr Kathleen Lynch and Dr Penny McKeown of QUB.
