Peace CD comes dripping to schools

Ireland, the Path to Peace, a CD by composer Philip Carty, is being distributed free to every school in the State. Commissioned by the Department of the Taoiseach, the CD was inspired by the emotional reaction of 92-year-old Maisie Hartigan as she listened with Carty to George Mitchell on the radio presenting the Belfast Agreement on Good Friday 1998. The music on the CD, performed by the Maynooth Chamber Choir, a string ensemble, soloists and Philip Carty himself on piano, is described as a celebration of the ongoing search for peace in Ireland.
