Wave Power Lecture at IT Sligo:IT Sligo is hosting a free talk by Andrew Parish, chief executive officer of Wavebob, tomorrow at 8.00pm.

Wavebob is an Irish company involved with harnessing wave power off the Irish coast and converting it to electricity. Parish will look at wave power in a global context. Arctic trip on offer for best school video

The winner of the climate change competition "Local to Global" will have a chance to explore the Arctic this autumn and see global warming at first hand.

Schools are invited to submit a two- to three-minute video which presents ways of reducing their carbon footprint by taking action in schools or local communities.

The competition is jointly organised by the British Council and the European Commission Representation in Ireland. The video can be submitted to: competitionNI@britishcouncil.org (in wmv, avi, mov or mpeg format). Entries must be received by April 1st. The Hunt Museum Spring 2008 Liberal Arts Course

The spring liberal arts course is now taking enrolments. This course will examine the changing nature of Ireland's architecture, from the Stone Age, right up to the 21st century and beyond.

Lectures are delivered by guest speakers associated with universities, colleges and museums and take place each Wednesday evening between 7pm and 9pm for 10 weeks from March 12th to May 14th.

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided each week. The course costs € 250 with a special student rate of € 175. There are no formal entry requirements and no final exam but lecturers will provide hand-outs, slide lists and suggest further reading on their subject areas.

Participants attending eight or more lectures shall receive The Hunt Museum Liberal Arts Certificate.

International Day of Francophonie

The International Day of Francophonie on Thursday, March 20th aims to celebrate the French language as well as solidarity, equity, peace and cultural diversity. To mark the occasion, a free screening of short films (subtitled in English) will be held at the Sugar Club, on Thursday, March 20th at 6 pm, followed by a reception at the Alliance Française.
