NUI Galway Open Day:  NUI Galway is opening its doors to secondary school students from around the country at its open day on Thursday, November 30th from 9am to 3pm.

Over 70 exhibition stands will provide information on courses across the faculties and there will be introductory lectures from the faculties of arts, law, commerce, science, Celtic studies, medicine and health sciences, and engineering. Environmental Change Institute (ECI) Public Lecture

Brendan McWilliams, meteorologist and author of daily Weather Eye column in The Irish Times will give a public lecture entitled From Elementary Curiosity to Chaos: A Brief History of Weather Forecasting, at NUI Galway on Thursday, November 29th. Open Day at Rathmines College, Dublin

Rathmines College is holding an Open Day on Wednesday, December 6th from 1pm to 4.30 pm. The college, based in the Town Hall, Rathmines, Dublin and 28/29 Leinster Road offers a range of business, accounting, journalism, office administration and PR courses. New courses for 2007 include FETAC Level 6 Advanced Certificates in Business.

Waterford Institute of Technology Alcohol Awareness Week

This week Waterford Institute of Technology is hosting its third annual Alcohol Awareness Week. The aim of the week is to educate students about the dangers of alcohol consumption.

Glucksman Memorial Lectures at TCD

Mordechai Feingold, professor of history at the California Institute of Technology, will speak on the subject of the Humanities in the Age of Science at the inauguration of the Glucksman Memorial Lectures in the Public Theatre, Front Square, Trinity College on Friday, December 1st at 5pm. The lecture will be followed by a round- table discussion. All welcome.

UCD Sinfonia Concert at Belfield

The UCD Sinfonia will give a concert in the Astra Hall, Belfield on Thursday, November 30th at 8pm. The programme includes Mozart's overture to The Marriage of Figaro and Masonic Funeral Music and Mahler's Songs of a Wayfarer. Tickets are €8 (students €5) and are available at the door.

BSc in Baking and Pastry Arts Management

The DIT School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology will launch a BSc in baking and pastry arts management during the open day to be held at the DIT Aungier Street campus on Saturday, December 2nd. The National Bakery School is unique in that it is the only centre of its type in Ireland.
