A number of information sessions on nursing in Britain will continue at venues around the country this week. Aimed at second-level students, the information sessions, which are organised by the Irish Episcopal Commission for Emigrants, will include information on opportunities in Europe and general information on higher education in Britain. This morning's session will take place in Athlone, Co Westmeath, at 11 a.m. in The Shamrock Lodge. Tonight, there will be a session at 7 p.m. in St Patrick's National School, Castlebar, Co Mayo. Tomorrow, the morning session will be held in Sligo at the Ursuline Convent. On Thursday, it's at Jackson's Hotel in Ballybofey, Co Donegal, at 11 a.m. and later that day the venue moves to Cavan to the Vocational School on Cootehill Road. Also for those who are thinking about moving to Britain to pursue a career, a number of information sheets are currently available from the British Council. There are sheets on dentistry, nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiography, teaching, tourism and veterinary medicine. There is also a separate sheet with information on funding. The information sheets are geared at Leaving Cert students. The Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy will hold an open morning on Wednesday, 24th next. Running between 10.30 a.m. and 1 p.m., it will consist of a short talk on each of the college's programmes, a tour of the building and a chance to sit in on some of the lectures. The great trawl for gifted teenagers will get under way shortly. Young people between the ages of 12 and 16 are invited to compete for a place at the Irish Centre for Talented Youth at Dublin City University. The great Talent Search 2000 is for post-primary students who have exceptional verbal and/or mathematical reasoning abilities. Want to see the biggest seed in the world? Or check out a coconut without any hair? These phenomena are on view along with other weird and wonderful items for those students who visit Dublin city centre's Enfo offices to see an exhibition on fruit and nuts. There are £20 book tokens to be won also. The exhibition will run until the end of the month. The Enfo offices at 17 St Andrew Street in Dublin 2 are open Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
