Teachers at Scoil Ide National School in Clondalkin, Dublin, have joined the great cavalcade that is now taking on technological change. The Minister for Education and Science, Micheal Martin, will visit the school today to officiate at the opening of the school's new computer room.
The room is now equipped with 18 computers - including 12 donated along with two printers and a scanner by Hewlett Packard, which continues to provide support on a regular basis, says principal Dervla Nic Mhathuna. Also, she reports that the school's staff is currently taking part in a computer training course at West Dublin Education Centre, spending two hours per week over a period of 10 weeks acquiring the necessary training for class teaching. They are also reviewing and assessing suitable software and devising our IT plan, according to Nic Mhathuna.
