Current job: President, Union of Students in Ireland.

What schools did you attend? Catholic University School (CUS), Leeson Street, Dublin.

Had you any famous classmates? David Malone was two years above me in school and went on to win gold swimming medals at the Barcelona and Sydney Paralympics. Ronnie Delaney (1,500 metres gold medal winner at the Melbourne Olympics in 1956) also went to CUS.

Hidden talents at school? Selling doughnuts at lunchtime for some extra pocket-money.

Best subject? History.

Worst subject? My artistic skills wouldn't go much past stick men.

Most inspirational teacher and why? Mr Tonge and Mr Jennings were my history teachers and both taught me to look at things in a different way.

Where did you go to college? Trinity College Dublin.

What's your best memory of school? Sportswise, it was walking out at Donnybrook for one of my JCT rugby games.

Your worst memory? Waiting to get my Leaving Cert results outside the principal's office.

What song most reminds you of your school days? Fairytale of New York - it always seems to bring people together.
