EAVAN BOLAND and Theo Dorgan will be guest speakers at the Poetry in the Classroom course for primary teachers which will be held at the Irish Writers' Centre, Dublin, from July 1st to 5th. Patrick Deeley, course organiser, says he hopes to look at the presentation, use and writing of poetry in class, from a teacher's and a poet's perspective.
Poems written for children will be provided as well as samples of children's own work. The course will examine ways of putting a book of children's poems together.
Poetry in the Classroom is sanctioned by the Department of Education and the course fee is £45.
