A ship believed to carrying 1,000 illegal immigrants is entering Dutch waters today after skirting around French and Belgian jurisdictions.
According to French naval sources in Cherbourg, northern France, the ship in question, the Espa, has travelled from Morocco via Amsterdam.
French prosecutors on Monday launched a judicial investigationinto the deliberate shipwreck on the French Riviera of a cargovessel carrying more than 900 Iraqi Kurds.
