A suspicious device, which sparked a security alert in Northern Ireland today, has been declared a hoax.

A suspicious device, which sparked a security alert in Northern Ireland today, has been declared a hoax.

PSNI officers closed Hazelwood Avenue in Dunmurry on the outskirts of west Belfast following the discovery of the device and a controlled explosion was carried out.

Evacuated residents have been allowed to return to their homes, police said.
