A new offensive by Dublin business interests to take more US flights away from Shannon has been predicted by SIGNAL, the workers' group at Shannon.

The workers say the new offensive emerged within 10 days of the Government go-ahead for Aer Lingus to join a strategic alliance led by British Airways and American Airlines, both major transatlantic carriers.

The group said Shannon faced demands for a change in the even split of US flights agreed in the 1994 deal after the loss of the obligatory Shannon stopover.
