A conference on Law Enforcement Assistance to Bosnia Herzegovina, to which 41 countries have been invited, will take place in Dublin on September 28th.

The Tanaiste, Mr Spring, said the aim of the conference, to be held in Dublin Castle, is to raise funds and "contributions in kind" for a comprehensive programme to restructure the police forces in the two entities.

The "pledging" conference will be co chaired by the UN Under Secretary General for Peacekeeping, Mr Kofi Annan, and the international High Representative for the former Yugoslavia, Mr Carl Bildt.

Among the countries asked to attend are the US, EU member states, and all the countries contributing personnel to the International Police Task Force (IPTF).
