Ireland's benchmark stock index, the ISEQ Index, rose 0.19 per cent at 8.05am.
The index of 64 companies traded on the Irish Stock Exchange rose 11.44 to 6,109.32. Among the stocks in the index, 9 rose, 11 fell and 44 were unchanged.
Gains in the ISEQ Index were led by Anglo Irish Bank, Bank Of Ireland and Allied Irish Banks.
