Dublin death treated as murder

Gardaí are treating the death of a man who was found seriously injured in Dublin last night as murder.

The 19-year-old was discovered at the car park of the Emmet Court apartment block in Inchicore at about 10.30pm.

He was taken to St James’s hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11.45pm. It is believed the man had been stabbed.

Gardaí have asked witnesses to the incident to come forward. They particularly want to see anyone who saw a number of youths run along the Grand Canal from the direction of Davitt House and over the bridge towards Emmet Court shortly after 10pm.

The scene has been preserved pending an examination by Garda technical officers.

The State Pathologist’s office has been notified and a postmortem is expected to take place tomorrow.
