Drugs worth over £500,000 were seized in a series of searches in the Dublin area last night.

Drugs worth over £500,000 were seized in a series of searches in the Dublin area last night.

Members of the Garda National Drugs Unit carried out the searches in the Santry, Coolock and Artane areas of the city.

In Santry, 30,000 ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of £400,000 were recovered. Two men in their 30s were subsequently brought to Santry Garda Station for questioning under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

The search of a house in Artane netted £120,000 worth of cocaine. A man and a woman in their 20s are being held at Santry Garda Station under Section 2 of the DTA.

And in Coolock a man is being questioned after the discovery of, 5,000 ecstasy tablets worth around £60,000 in a house in the area.
