Drivers are to be given a voice in the mid-term review of the National Car Testing Service (NCTS) according to the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Mr Ivor Callely.

Mr Callely said a series of public debates would be held throughout the country next year to help improve the NCT process.

The Minister was speaking at the opening of a new NCT centre in Blarney, Co Cork, which also marked the formal unveiling of the NCTS online booking system http://www.ncts.ie/.

Elsewhere, in Cork city two bus corridors were opened today. The corridors, know as "Green Routes", are the same as the quality bus corridors in Dublin.

Three further green routes are to be completed in 2005 at a cost of €6 million. Five others are planned to be completed in 2008.

In all ten bus corridors or Green Routes are to be built over the next 10 years.
