A Belfast jury yesterday unanimously acquitted a Co Down lorry driver charged with smuggling over 2 million cigarettes bound for Dublin.

The driver, Mr David Hanna (29), from Money darragh, Annalong, said he thought the smuggled cigarettes was a load of broccoli he had picked up in Spain in March last year. He also claimed that while he had helped load lemons, he was asleep in his cab when the bogus load of "broccoli" was put on his lorry.
