A dispute between an 82-year-old widow and her son over a family home worth £300,000 was settled yesterday after the hearing opened at Cork Circuit Court.

Mrs Paula McCarthy (82) claimed that Ms Josephine Patricia McCarthy and Mr Chris McCarthy - her daughter-in-law and son - had wrongfully procured a half-share of the house at San Paulo, Orchard Road, Cork, which is now valued at around £300,000.

Mrs McCarthy is living with her daughter at Carrigdubh, Firgrove Drive, Bishopstown.

Mr McCarthy and his wife denied all allegations made by Mrs McCarthy.
