Derry loyalist parade passes 'peacefully'

The annual Apprentice Boys march has passed off peacefully in Derry City

The annual Apprentice Boys march has passed off peacefully in Derry City. Over ten thousand people and some 150 bands took part in this year's event.

Security was tight as thousands of Apprentice Boys converged on the city from all over the North to take part in the commemoration of the relief of the city in 1689.

This year's march was largely peaceful with only two arrests for disorderly behaviour and the seizure by police of a loyalist paramilitary flag.

The parade has been marred in the past by violence between marchers and nationalist protesters.
