Kabul - The demolition of Afghanistan's two giant statues of Buddha hewn from a cliff face was halted during the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha, but the order to destroy them stands and their destruction is certain, according to the Taliban envoy in Pakistan, Mr Abdul Salam Zaeef.
The Muslim holiday ends tomorrow.
