The decision on a £65 million hazardous waste incinerator in north Kildare is to be announced by An Bord Pleanala later today, writes Kevin O'Sullivan.

Kildare County Council rejected on 14 grounds the application of an Irish company, Thermal Waste Management Ltd, to build the facility with a capacity to process 100,000 tonnes of hazardous waste a year.

It is proposed for a site zoned for light industrial use at Boycetown, west of Kilcock. The decision was appealed by the developers.

There were 6,000 objectors to the incinerator.
