The death of a newborn boy in a house outside Westport, Co Mayo is being investigated by gardaí.
They discovered the body of the “full-term” baby at about 5.00am after a woman in her 40s was admitted to Mayo General Hospital this morning.
A postmortem was conducted by the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy this afternoon.
A Garda spokesman said the results, which have been made available to the investigation team, are not being disclosed for operational reasons.

Gardaí said a technical examination has taken place at the house where the baby's body was discovered.
The woman is still being treated in hospital.
