Date set for Dublin West byelection

The Dublin West byelection is to be held on October 27th - the same day as the presidential election.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny this afternoon announced the date for the byelection, brought about by the death of Fianna Fáil TD and former minister for finance Brian Lenihan in June.

Joan Burton (Labour), Joe Higgins (ULA) and Leo Varadkar (Fine Gael) are the sitting TDs in the four seat constituency.

A referendum on judges pay and another on giving powers to parliamentary committees to conduct investigations will take place on the same day.
